OVERVIEW

Boarding life at RGS, in the houses is meant to develop the values of co-operation, self-restraint, and sharing. The interaction between teachers and students outside the classroom is considered a very important part of living and learning at Royal global school. Boarders live a sheltered life along with the House parents under the shade of Gulmohar (for girls) and Amaltas (for Boys). The head of the boarding and his team is the mentor who takes care of the boarders’ physical and psychological well being as well as their intellectual excellence. Gulmohar and Amaltas believe in a blend of warm, cozy and homely atmosphere- a home away from home, together with comfort and luxury. The residents enjoy latest state-of-the art facilities. The rooms are furnished with four beds, study table, bookshelf and a cupboard. Both the hostels are centrally air conditioned. Each floor has a study room, an entertainment/recreational room with TV and DVD player, an MI room and a laundry room. Facilities for hot and cold water are also available. Round the clock water supply and security are provided. The hostels are well ventilated and are equipped with latest firefighting devices and buildings adhere to safety norms and are seismic resistant.

HEAD OF BOARDING

Greetings from the Boarding Houses of Royal Global School. Royal Global School (RGS) is North East India’s first progressive boarding School with a host of thoughtful facilities and amenities. Boarders at RGS enjoy the advantage of staying in a safe, secure, stimulating and productive environment which bring out the best in them. Royal Global School is founded on the belief that students can only do well if an educational environment is safe, creative and compassionate: where trust and honesty lie at the foundation of the relationships within the School and between the School and parents. It is not a matter of helping a student when things go wrong; it is a matter of ensuring that things do not go wrong in the first place. Residential facilities in RGS are separate for girls and boys (Amaltas Hostel for boys and Gulmohar Hostel for Girls). Each Hostel is supervised by a team of House Master , House Mistresses and tutors .Four students are expected to share each of the rooms which are modern, well furnished, centrally air-conditioned and provide each student with a space for private study. Furthermore, each residence floor has its own facility for general relaxation. Overall growth of RGS boarders is our main focus. The residential teachers are dedicated to guiding the boarders through the unique challenges of adolescence and early adulthood. The Pastoral Team as a whole plays an important role for each and every boarder. The Pastoral Team works with the tutors in School and the House Staff in the residence. Students always have someone in whom they can confide or share a problem, who monitors their conduct and general development and helps them make the most of their formal and informal education. The tutor remains with their tutee over several years and has a deep understanding about the student’s attitudes, conduct and progress. Older boarders provide mentoring to the younger ones. Each boarder, in effect, at some stage will have been mentored by a senior and serve as a mentor to his or her junior. The role of the mentor is an important one in the Hostels. Above all, the informal part of boarding life seeks to promote well-being and happiness in the student. The focus on family and community, respect for diversity, care and personal attention is balanced with a love of adventure, problem solving, encouragement towards leadership and the setting of challenges. Students will inevitably fail from time to time, however they will learn that this is a normal part of growing up. This means that they will be helped to turn their present setbacks and mistakes into future successes and achievements. RGS encourages parents to be closely involved in the progress of their children at all stages. The School plays its part with regular communication in the form of newsletters, direct e-mails to the Parents. For their part, parents should try to be active partners. Parents are expected to be familiar with School policy vide “Almanac & Guidelines for Boarders’ Parents” and regular contact with the tutors. Parents have much to contribute to any school and RGS welcomes any ideas they may have for improvement. The RGS Code of Conduct sets out clear guidelines for behaviour and the inevitable sanctions that would apply in the event of failure to follow it. The Code of Conduct is really a set of principles which is intended to give to the students practical assistance in developing a reliable moral sense and understanding of the rights of others and personal obligations.

Bon Voyage.

With sincere regards,
Head of Boarding

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Boarding life at RGS, provides a secure and supportive environment for students. Comfortable accommodation and vibrant environment in the hostels gives the students a sense of homeliness and a feeling of belonging. In this ambience, students generally relate to each other in a friendly and accepting manner, with younger ones not afraid of the older ones. We like to think of the school community in terms of a large, extended family. Meals are being served in the separate Dining Halls with the House Master & House Mistresses supervising breakfast, lunch, evening tea and supper. An experienced F& B manager ensures that sterile, nourishing, wholesome and calorific Pan-Indian, Chinese, Continental vegetarian fare fills hungry young stomachs. Hostel Facility will be available from Grade IV onwards.
