A TASTE OF SHAKESPEARE
“Not marble nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme,
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone, besmeared with sluttish time.”
― William Shakespeare
The Bard of Avon’s words are true and none can dispute the fact as 400 years of Shakespeare’s works were celebrated. When it comes to Shakespeare's legacy, it seems safe to conclude that "what's past is prologue”. A William Shakespeare-inspired Wednesday afternoon of December 22, brought Royal Global School students on stage to perform Bard’s soliloquies. The Theatre club of the school- “Backstage” under the tutelage of Mentor Sattyakee D’com Bhuyan did put up a 45-minute performance steered by Triparna Bordoloi of class XI. Moreover, it was a result of the creative efforts of more than 25 students and their influence on live theatre today. This ‘Taste of Shakespeare’ titled “Shakespeare Revisit’s” was a great introduction to a large cross section of Shakespeare’s work, and one does not have to be a connoisseur/savant to recognize some of his most famous lines and characters. A soliloquy is a word taken from Latin and it means ‘talking by oneself.’ It’s a device that dramatists – and Shakespeare to great effect – used to allow a character to communicate his or her thoughts directly to the audience. Students came forth and performed on a set that was devoid of the usual auditorium layout as the production was on the lines of free improvisation. We tried our best to showcase Shakespeare’s iconic characters under a light of our modern times. ANCHIT portrayed the character of Brutas, AYESHA as Juliet, KONKONA as Ophelia, PRAKREET as Hamlet, ROYINA as Lady Macbeth, SHRISTI as Romeo, SIMBON as Shylock , TEJAS as Othello and TRIPARNA as Portia. The Chairman of the School Dr. A.K. Pansari, Principal Sanjay Tiwari, along with teachers, students and invited guests graced the occasion.

Srinivasa Ramanujan's birthday is celebrated as "National Mathematics Day" across the country. At RGS, we honoured this day by organising an Exhibition on his great works in the field of Mathematics. He made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems that were considered unsolvable at one time. Going through the projects and activities displayed by our students, the children understood that mathematics is a learnable and enjoyable subject.

“A little child, a shining star, a stable rude, the door ajar. Yet in that place, so crude forlorn, the Hope of all, the world was born.” It was such a pleasure to celebrate the season of Love, Joy & Peace with our young ones and their parents. A fun-filled day before the holiday began. Our precious little ones of Nursery and LKG danced to the tune of “I’m a little star and Jingle Bells” followed by a rocking performance of Grade 1 children. Christmas holds a special place in everyone’s heart. Few children of UKG shared on what this season means to them. The program ended with children singing carols spreading the Christmas cheers by singing loud for all to hear. The fancy stalls added to the celebration of Christmas Fiesta with yummy bakery treats, and variety of Indian snacks, crafts made by children, tatoo making, various Christmas games and fun filled rides like train rides, horse rides and bouncy.

It's that time of the year to be merry With Christmas just a few days away the festival was celebrated with fanfare and a lot of joy in the junior school assembly of Royal Global School. The assembly commenced with the Fifth Graders explaining the significance of the varied Christmas Symbols. Then the students enacted the Nativity Scene, which kept the audience spellbound. The lithe dancers captivated everyone with their dance numbers. How can Christmas be complete without Carols, today it was a Carol with a difference. The Spanish students sang a Spanish Carol! Then of course there was Santa himself who was a part of the festive fervour.

Life is about learning by exploring the varied facets of Nature. The students of Royal Global School had been a part of this endeavour. To teach them to be independent and to adjust with their peer group the students of Grades IV and V were taken for an Educational trip to Kaziranga. The students had an exhilarating experience in the midst of Nature. They had a spiritual experience when they were taken to the Mahamrityunjay temple at Nagaon. The children were mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of the Orchids in the Orchid garden. They had a thrilling experience when they went on a Jeep Safari to the National Park and saw a plethora of animals and birds. They danced to their heart's content when the local artists entertained them with their groovy and foot tapping numbers. The students came back enriched.

Another session of ANTARPRERNA featured cinematographer, Mr. Jishnu Bhattacharjeev. From Arunachal to Mumbai, his journey as a student and then as a professional cinematographer was really interesting and encouraging. He has to his credit feature films, television commercials and song shoots. His success story motivated many students to look at cinematography as a career option.

On the 9th and 10th of December 2022, a ‘Night Spent’ program was organised for the students of Grade 2 of Royal Global School in the school campus. As we all know that playing and spending time with friends is a crucial part of children’s development. With that aim in view, a very structured itinerary was planned so that the children would be able to build greater bonds with their classmates as well as have a great learning experience away from the classroom environment. The activities included movie time, bonfire in the evening followed by some games, early morning jogging, tree planting, an activity where they made a ‘Bird Feeder’ out of used plastic bottles and also an outing to a nearby park. The excitement of the little children and the anxiety of the parents was quite palpable as it was the first time away from home for most of them. The event was a great success and the children went back home with some beautiful memories to cherish.
