India is a land of diverse cultures and ethnicity yet we are one and all proud Indians.

Royal Global School Guwahati celebrated the 78th Independence Day with a lot of patriotism and enthusiasm.

The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Tricolour to the soulful flute rendition of Saare Jahaan Se Aacha and Vande Mataram. The March Past by the school contingent followed. They were aptly supported by the melodious music played by the students setting the tone and mood for the events that followed.

The head of the school Dr. Dillip Kumar Panda addressed the August gathering wherein he said that long years ago some people made a promise and after a lot of struggle India has made a tryst with destiny. This struggle taught us resilience. But our freedom comes with a lot of challenges where the question if we will be able to breathe free and clean air or drink pure water in the future looms large in the air. He asked the parents to teach their children the difference between exact education and education as propagated by social media. So the need of the hour is not only to produce techies who will propel development but at the same time use technology to build a more peaceful and sustainable world.

The school choir enthralled the gathering with their melodious song. Through their song, they praised our Motherland and its glory. India's cultural diversity was brought forth as the choir sang in different Indian languages.

The skit took us through memory lane as they showcased India's journey from 1942 to 1947 and how subtly the seed of partition was floated.

A befitting end to the celebration was the dance by the young students of grades II and III. They captivated and mesmerized everyone with their graceful dance performance. Their nimble feet brought the stage alive and everyone watched spellbound.

The participants gained new knowledge on lesser-known aspects of the Partition and engaged enthusiastically in the discussion.
