Guwahati District Chess Championship 2024 (Categories Under 7, 11, & 15 years of age)

Several of our students participated in the recently concluded Guwahati District Chess Championship 2024. The participants were:

  1. Aaira Jain in the Under 7 Girls category
  2. Revansh Sarma in the Under 7 Boys category
  3. Akshat Bhuwania in the Under 7 Boys category
  4. Chaitanya Siotia in the Under 11 Boys category
  5. Samaira Jain in the Under 11 Girls category
  6. Jisha Jain in the Under 11 Girls category
  7. Ritisha Mayra Rajbongshi in the Under 11 Girls category

Out of the seven participants, five have been selected to represent the Guwahati district in the upcoming State Championship, which will take place from July 28th to July 30th, 2024, in Tezpur.

Results are as follows:

  1. Aaira Jain - 4th place in the Under 7 Girls category
  2. Revansh Sarma - 3rd place in the Under 7 Boys category
  3. Chaitanya Siotia - 2nd place in the Under 11 Boys category
  4. Ritisha Mayra Rajbongshi - 1st place in the Under 11 Girls category
  5. Jisha Jain - 2nd place in the Under 11 Girls category

Dameshai Umdor also received the Best Player award in the Under 19 Boys category.

 

The students of RGS showcased their exceptional talent and determination at the Inter District Roll Ball Championship held from July 26th to 28th, 2024. Their impressive performance brought home numerous accolades, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements!

Here's a summary of their achievements:

  1. Parth Jain and Shlok Sonthalia, representing Guwahati, Kamrup (M), clinched the Gold Medal in the Under-11 category.
  2. Aarathrika Baruah, representing Guwahati, Kamrup (M), won the Silver Medal in the Under-14 category and was also awarded Player of the Match.
  3. Navika Jhunjhunwala, representing Kamrup (M), won the Silver Medal in the Under-11 category.

Participating in the National Level Debating Championship, "The Shri Debate," was a rewarding experience that offered significant personal and professional growth opportunities for RGS students. Hosted by Shri Ram School, Moulsari, Gurugram, from July 24-26, 2024, the event saw 100 students from 20 schools across India, including Doon School, Bishop Cotton School, DPS Vasant Kunj, Neerja Modi, and AVS Tezpur, among others.

Four students from Royal Global School—Arham Dudhoria (XII), Paraj Garg (XI), Shaanvi Agarwal (IX), and Yash Chajjer (IX)—participated in this prestigious event and won one of the preliminary rounds. The debates, conducted in the WSDC format, showcased the students' impressive talents as they engaged in thought-provoking discussions on pertinent topics such as AI, the feminist movement, space exploration, dynastic succession in politics, the decline of tightly integrated families, and the Equal Airtime policy.

The event was a kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts, and perspectives, enhancing participants' knowledge and understanding. It was a memorable learning experience, marked by the enthusiasm and zest displayed by all participants, highlighting the potential within the students.

The Model United Nations (MUN) Conference was held at Assam Valley School from July 17th to 19th, 2024. Seven students from Royal Global School participated, escorted by Mrs. Mousumi Bhattacharjee.

Eight schools attended the 4th AVS MUN, with 126 delegates participating in nine committees themed “Compassion in Conflict: Resolving Differences with Diplomacy.” Our school's delegation included:

- Devangi Jalan (Grade XI), Head Delegate: Lok Sabha as Nirmala Sitharaman.

- Kaushiki Chowdhury (Grade XI): Lok Sabha as Rockibul Hussain.

- Radhika Das (Grade IX): ICJ as Singapore.

- Prajas M. Barooah (Grade IX): CCC as Taiwan.

- Panav Todi (Grade IX): CCC as Iran.

- Armaan Jindal (Grade IX): UNSC as the Republic of Korea.

- Agastya Moksh (Grade IX): UNHRC as the Republic of France.

The conference featured an opening ceremony with speeches from the Secretary-General and Colonel DJ Chauhan, the Chief Guest. Delegates then participated in committee sessions, drafted resolutions, and enjoyed cultural nights. The conference concluded with an award ceremony and the Head Master’s Dinner. Our students showed exceptional skill, with notable achievements including:

- Radhika Das (Grade IX): Best Delegate in ICJ for representing Singapore.

- Panav Todi (Grade IX): Special Mention in CCC for representing Iran.

- Agastya Moksh (Grade IX): Special Mention in UNHRC for representing the Republic of France.

- Devangi Jalan (Grade XI): Verbal Mention in Lok Sabha for representing Nirmala Sitharaman.

The MUN conference helped students develop skills in public speaking, research, writing, teamwork, critical thinking, and diplomacy. They expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity.

Life is an adventure, and the best adventures are the ones we share together. As the world is a book, those who do not travel read only one page. — Anonymous Students of grades VI, VII, and VIII of Royal Global School embarked on an educational excursion to Bengaluru, Ooty, and Mysore spanning over seven days. The trip began with a visit to the ISKCON temple in Bengaluru, where the chants of "Hare Ram Hare Krishna" provided a serene backdrop to the captivating architecture of the holy shrine.Days 2 and 3 were spent in Ooty. Despite the long drive, the good roads and scenic beauty, with lush greenery and sightings of herds of deer, wild elephants, and even a stray peacock, kept the students spellbound as they traveled through Bandipur Forest Reserve in Karnataka and Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu. In Ooty, the students visited the Tea Factory, the Chocolate Factory, the Botanical Garden, went on boat rides in the lake, and visited the Pykara Waterfall.Days 4 and 5 were spent in the historical city of Mysore. They witnessed the mesmerizing light and sound show at the famous Vrindavan Garden, visited the Mysore Zoo, Mysore Palace, St. Philomena's Church, and Chamundeshwari Temple, where they were fortunate to witness the evening Aarti.Day 6 was at Wonderla Park, where the students enjoyed both dry and wet rides, with palpable excitement as they experienced one ride after another. On the final day of the trip, the students visited the famous Lal Bagh Garden and saw the Vidhan Soudha, an architectural marvel in Bengaluru.
