In a heartwarming gesture, Royal Global School honoured the grandparents of the school by celebrating Grandparents’ Day for the students of Nursery to grade 5.

The grandparents were welcomed with a ceremonial tilak and axomiya gamocha. The volunteers at the reception desk could be seen touching their feet and holding their hands to guide them to the school. 8 great grandparents came for the event. It was heart-warming to see the children taking charge of the wheelchair and helping a few great-grandparents for the entire duration.

Grandparents Day was an extravagant event where a plethora of activities ranging from sports to music, dance, instruments, Robotics, etc were offered to the grandparents.

For the Sports enthusiasts there were sports like Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Squash, Carrom, Pool, Archery, Shooting, Horse riding, and Billiards. There was a Game zone where the grandparents played games and made their grandchildren proud by winning exciting gifts.

The ones with a cultural bent of mind got an opportunity to be a part of the Karaoke sessions, and various dance forms like Ballroom dance, Flamenco, Bihu, Bollywood dance, etc. They tried their hands at instruments like guitar, violin, keyboard, flute, and drums.

For the book lovers the Junior and Senior School library was open to  them where they could flip through the pages of perhaps their own childhood novels. They allowed their creativity to flow on the canvas with vibrant colours in the Painting corner.

The celebration's highlight was interacting with Iris- the teacher robot and taking a tour of the VR lab. They were fascinated when the VR set gave them a tour of the Badrinath and Kedarnath pilgrimage sites.

They were given a joy ride in the Toy train which they thoroughly enjoyed.

As the grandparents bid adieu to the school, they had a lot of good things to share. Almost everyone said that they had relived their childhood and had a memorable time which they would cherish for the days to come.

Royal Global School students participated in the CBSE Far East Zone Archery Competition 2024, held from 20th to 22nd September 2024 in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.

Aahan P Konwar competed in the Under-14 Boys category.

Jimena Lalhruaitluangi and Melvina Oinam participated in the Under-17 Girls category.

Khusboo Firdoushi represented the school in the Under-19 Girls category.

On the 21st of September, Royal Global School hosted the vibrant event "Ethnic Ensemble" at the Broadway. Organized on a Saturday, this celebration was dedicated to the students and parents of Grade 2, with the aim of showcasing cultural diversity and promoting values of inclusivity and unity. The event brought forth an exquisite display of ethnic attire from various states across India.

Around thirty participants, representing the four sections of Grade 2, stepped onto the stage with enthusiasm, dressed in traditional ethnic wear that reflected timeless elegance. States such as Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland, and Maharashtra were beautifully represented by the parent-child duos. Some grandparents also joined their grandchildren, with one particular trio winning a special prize for their heartwarming performance.

The first prize was awarded to Drihaan Bharali (2B), the second to Abir Chamaria (2A), while Jagpreet S. Raina (2C) and Avira Agarwal (2A) shared the third prize.

The event was judged by Mrs. Devachandana Oja and Mrs. Priti Khakholia, who praised all the contestants for their brilliant performances, remarking that the competition was exceptionally tough.

The "Ethnic Ensemble" was a resounding success, with participants not only reflecting their individual styles but also proudly showcasing their cultural heritage. Through intricate craftsmanship, symbolic colors, and regional variations, the event provided a captivating glimpse into the rich traditions that continue to thrive across India.

The CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship 2024 was hosted by Royal Global School, Guwahati, from September 20 to 22, featuring 159 teams from 74 schools and 620 players from across northeastern states, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and more.

The championship had eight categories (Under 11, 14, 17, and 19, both Mixed & Girls), showcasing young talent in a team format under the Swiss League System. The top two teams qualified for the CBSE National Chess Tournament in Jalandhar, Punjab, in October.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mukuta Deka, Vice Chairman of the All India Chess Federation, with a cultural program. It concluded on September 22 with a prize distribution ceremony led by Mr. Mrinal Kalita and Dr. Dillip Kr. Panda.

Royal Global School is hosting the CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship, a three-day extravaganza where the brightest young minds from across India will compete to showcase their skills and strategic prowess.

The event began with the hoisting of the flag by the Guest of Honour, Mukuta Deka, during a solemn ceremony that opened with the recitation of Saraswati Vandana, paying homage to the Goddess of learning. A graceful performance of Assam's classical Sattriya dance by Sanvi Agarwal followed, captivating the audience.

The Head of School, Dr. Dillip Kumar Panda, addressed the participants, encouraging them to embrace fair play. He emphasized that while competition is important, the true value of the event lies in using the platform to forge friendships, share experiences, and create memories to cherish forever. Guest of Honour Mukuta Deka echoed these sentiments, highlighting the power of games to bring people together.

A session on raising awareness about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the workplace was conducted for the faculty and administrative staff of Royal Global School by Ms. Anurita P. Hazarika, Executive Director (in-charge) of North East Network (NEN).

Ms. Hazarika provided an insightful overview of the historical background and significance of the POSH Act. She elaborated on the various forms of sexual harassment, the associated penalties, and the formal procedures for lodging complaints. Additionally, she explained the inquiry processes and emphasized the role and responsibilities of the Internal Committee, along with the importance of fostering healthy employer-employee relationships.

Ms. Hazarika's extensive experience, knowledge, and dedicated work in this field were immensely beneficial to all participants.

A session on "Good Touch and Bad Touch" was conducted by school counsellors, Ms. Meenakshi Barthakur and Ms. Harshita Das, for students from UKG to Class 2. The session aimed to raise awareness about safe and unsafe touch, helping children understand how to distinguish between the two. Emotions that often follow unsafe touch—such as discomfort, sadness, fear, confusion, helplessness, and anger—were discussed through practical demonstrations. The students were also guided on how to respond in such situations, emphasizing the importance of reporting to a trusted person immediately and not keeping it to themselves.

Following the session, Nirbaak, a dynamic social and cultural organization based in Assam, presented a captivating mime performance. Active in promoting the art of mime since 2018, Nirbaak beautifully depicted the concepts of good and bad touch and how to respond to such situations.

The event was truly impactful, and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.

A session on "Stress and Performance Anxiety" was conducted by Ms. Meenakshi Barthakur, the Counsellor for hostellers and boarders. Many students experience anxiety before exams and during other performance-related activities. The session focused on identifying common stressors, with discussions on various coping strategies and stress management techniques.

Additionally, common issues faced during adolescence were addressed. The session was highly interactive, emphasizing the importance of mental health and overall well-being.

RGS participated in the CBSE Far East Zone Taekwondo Championship, where Sachit Dey of Class 11 secured a gold medal in the Under-19, 45 kg category. Additionally, Jagrav Das of Class 12 won a bronze medal in the Under-19, 70 kg category. Sachit Dey has also been selected to compete in the CBSE Nationals, scheduled for October.

The 5th General Body Meeting of the CBSE Sahodaya Complex, Guwahati Chapter, was hosted by Royal Global School on 14th September 2024. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Dilip Kumar Panda, brought together principals from various schools in Guwahati to focus on key educational initiatives. The session commenced with a progress report and discussions on the upcoming Sahodaya Week celebrations. Key topics included reviewing work progress, selecting resource persons for CBSE Pre-Board exam preparation, and finalizing dates for the Sahodaya Week awards. Mr. Jugal Ch. Borah provided financial updates, while contact information for the chapter was updated. The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bandana Baruah, followed by high tea.

Royal Global School students participated in the CBSE Far East Zone Tennis Championships 2024, held from 14th to 17th September 2024 at KT Global School, Khodra, Odisha.

Mayuresh Hazarika and Prajas Mojumdar Baruah competed in the Under-17 Boys category.

Guruaribam Aarnica and Utpalakshee Saikia participated in the Under-19 Girls category.

The Under-19 Girls team proudly secured the bronze medal, bringing laurels to the school.

The atmosphere at Royal Global School was filled with joy and reverence as hostellers gathered to celebrate the birthday of the legendary Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Renowned for his exceptional talents as a singer, lyricist, composer, scholar, and artist, Dr. Hazarika was also a visionary humanist who dreamt of a society without class distinctions. His powerful voice and thought-provoking lyrics left an indelible mark on millions, establishing him as a cultural icon in Indian music. The hostellers honored his legacy by singing one of his famous songs, echoing his timeless message of unity and equality. It was truly heartwarming to witness the students celebrate Dr. Hazarika's legacy, keeping his spirit alive through their heartfelt tributes.

Within the vibrant setting of RGS, Teachers' Day 2024 burst with creativity and energy, unfolding in two distinct yet equally captivating segments. The first brought to life the talents of pre-primary and primary students, while the second highlighted the impressive skills of middle and senior school students.

The event, elegantly titled ‘Magna Stella: A Night with the Stars’ commenced with a touch of glamour as teachers made their grand entrance down the red carpet, setting the tone for the event.

From dynamic dance routines and harmonious choirs to engaging skits and vibrant band performances, each act was a testament to the students' dedication and creativity. What set this event apart was its entirely student-driven execution, spearheaded by the School Prefect Council. With an array of student volunteers and performers at the helm, the celebration overflowed with genuine affection and appreciation, beautifully capturing the profound connection between students and their mentors.

To commemorate the Tithi of Mahapurush Sri Sankar Dev, the proponent of the Vaishnavite religion, a special assembly was held.

The assembly began with the prayer 'Tumi Chitra Bitri Mura.' Students were informed about Saint Sankar Dev, a revered dramatist and poet who composed his first poem at the age of 12, without any matras. The event featured a graceful Satriya dance performance, set to a soulful song, captivating the audience. This was followed by a melodious rendition of Borgeet sung in the Brajavali language, a dialect used by the saint to spread his teachings. The assembly concluded with a Nam Kirtan, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of the Khol and Taal, creating a surreal ambiance.

The special assembly offered students a deep insight into Assamese culture and provided valuable information about the Vaishnavite saint.

Dr. Dillip Kumar Panda, the head of the school, addressed the students, highlighting the significance of Saint Sankar Dev. He described him as a pivotal figure in the renaissance of the Bhakti movement, emphasizing his devotion to one God, Lord Krishna.

As part of Climate Week 2024, a session on water conservation and waste management was conducted by Ms. Brinda Beriya and Mr. Siddharth Rasaily, prominent activists from 'Young Indian' and 'The Midway Journey.' The event featured an insightful presentation that aimed to raise awareness and inspire students to take action.

The session served as a powerful call to action, urging individuals and communities to engage actively in sustainable practices. The presenters emphasised the importance of water conservation and effective waste management for the well-being of both current and future generations. They highlighted the impact of collective efforts in driving meaningful change, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a role to play in creating a sustainable future.
